Introducing Salone Raritas: A New Space for Limited Edition Design & High-End Craftsmanship
At the 64th edition of the Salone del Mobile, “Salone Raritas. Curated icons, unique objects, and outsider pieces” will officially make its grand debut. This marks the first direct interface between the realm of special edition design, antiquities, and high-end craftsmanship, and the professional design market (encompassing architects, interior designers, contractors, project developers, dealers, etc.)
Leading galleries and an international audience will converge on a platform driven by a profound curatorial vision, meticulously designed to foster long-term relationships and generate lucrative business opportunities.
Salone del Mobile.Milano is hosting a highly anticipated presentation of Salone Raritas in London. Curated icons, unique objects, and outsider pieces, a novel exhibition and curatorial endeavor dedicated exclusively to special and limited edition designs, unique masterpieces, antiques, and fine craftsmanship, is scheduled to premiere from April 21st to 26th, 2026, at Pavilions 9-11 Fiera Milano, Rho.
This serves as a prestigious meeting ground for preeminent galleries and the international design supply chain—comprising architects, interior designers, developers, hospitality, and contract professionals—where the intrinsic cultural value of the pieces will engage in a dialogue with the grand scale of major contemporary commercial commissions.
Curated by Annalisa Rosso, Editorial Director and Cultural Events Advisor of Salone del Mobile, with exhibition design by Formafantasma, Salone Raritas was conceived to elegantly bridge the gap between highly-skilled creative manufacturing and the contemporary B2B design market.
The ultimate objective is to cultivate an exclusive environment that nurtures networking opportunities and prospects, forging innovative pathways for presenting and acquiring unique pieces, limited editions, and ‘outsider’ objects. When integrated into high-profile projects, these masterpieces have the power to unequivocally define the identity of both public and private interiors.
The exhibition design, orchestrated by Formafantasma, conceptualizes the Salone Raritas area as a colossal architectural lantern: a porous landscape, remarkably bold in its materiality, specifically designed to enrich the narratives it houses without overshadowing them. Crafted to ensure distinct recognizability and rhythm, the space features a predefined palette of colors and materials, allowing for calibrated, thoughtful customization.
Against the backdrop of the broader contemporary design scene, Salone Raritas signifies a distinctive change of pace: sectors encompassing residential real estate development, international hospitality, and experiential retail are increasingly integrating limited-edition artworks and furnishings as strategic levers for identity affirmation and brand positioning. Introducing collectible design to the Salone equates to pioneering an ever-evolving field, bringing it to the forefront for investors, developers, and discerning clients who seek exceptional quality, rarity, and a cohesive narrative as the new barometers of value for luxury hotels, premium residences, and public domains.

Maria Porro, President of Salone del Mobile.Milano, articulated: “Salone Raritas was born from a profound awareness that is equally a responsibility—to accurately read the evolution of the international market and provide a response fully consistent with the core identity of Salone del Mobile.Milano. Our role has invariably been to stay ahead of the curve: today, we are doing exactly that by opening a new chapter dedicated to authorial design, research, and antiques—an extraordinarily fertile territory—that interacts directly with the professional design ecosystem. Salone Raritas will serve as a curatorial platform imbued with sharp market acumen, capable of capturing the escalating demand for rare and iconic pieces from architects, developers, brands, and investors, who now recognize this caliber of design as a strategic asset for affirming identity and vision. At a pivotal time when the professional sphere is intensely focused on uniqueness, profound content, and unparalleled quality, Salone Raritas flawlessly interprets the Salone’s role as an activator of international connections, visions, and design languages. This initiative perfectly dovetails with our rich history, yet it also signifies a remarkable openness towards new horizons, where unique and research-driven pieces, limited editions, and high-end creative manufacturing are entering the very heart of the Salone for the first time. Welcoming and valorizing these exceptional pieces means deeply recognizing the value of design conceived to endure over time—a philosophy that the Salone has eternally championed and supported as an authentic expression of design culture. Furthermore, we are inaugurating a new channel of direct dialogue with the B2B and contract realms, forging a platform tailor-made to meet the exacting needs of a professional audience that places immense value on the quality, distinct identity, and cultural significance of their projects.”
“We have meticulously worked to construct a novel design, cultural, and commercial ecosystem that constitutes a tangible and invaluable opportunity for both exhibitors and visitors, generating fresh connections and unprecedented market prospects. Salone Raritas heralds a compelling new chapter for the collectible design segment, which is continually evolving and expanding its inherent characteristics and vast range of possibilities. Salone Raritas establishes open channels of communication between entities that, until very recently, seemed worlds apart, granting many of them the extraordinary chance to converge for the first time. Consequently, the Salone robustly reaffirms its status as an institution supremely capable of generating pivotal relationships, visionary perspectives, and new paradigms of shared growth,” stated Annalisa Rosso, Editorial Director and Cultural Events Advisor of Salone del Mobile, and esteemed curator of Salone Raritas.

The project will be further fortified by the formidable Salone ecosystem: a premier global platform that attracts over 300,000 visitors from more than 160 different countries, alongside over 5,200 international journalists annually, exponentially amplifying the visibility of a sector that has traditionally operated on a more intimate scale.
Within the refined expanse of Salone Raritas, this immense scale translates into a meticulously curated and immediately legible narrative, wherein the distinct character of each gallery remains pristine and intact within a cohesive and unified exhibition layout.
Formafantasma—comprising Andrea Trimarchi and Simone Farresin—perceives exhibition design as a device that is simultaneously critical and functional: “We envisioned Salone Raritas as a highly legible and permeable architectural landscape, a radiant lantern that harnesses light and rhythm to elevate the pieces. This sophisticated design empowers each gallery to express its own unique identity while masterfully maintaining a choral narrative, strategically designed to guarantee both enduring memorability for visitors and optimal effectiveness in the marketplace.”
Configured in this visionary manner, Salone Raritas delivers an immersive and truly distinctive experience. Here, unique masterpieces and limited series become elegantly accessible to interlocutors who seldom cross paths within conventional circuits. This profoundly consolidates the core mission of Salone del Mobile.Milano—not merely as an unparalleled commercial platform, but as a vital cultural infrastructure: a realm where rarity transcends being an exception and triumphantly becomes a shared, universal design language.
